DUI charge among multiple incidents in Aiken County
An 18 year old Warrenville man, John Henry Conaway II, was detained Sunday after a traffic stop on Howlandville Road. He faced DUI unlawful carrying of a pistol and open container, and remained in the Aiken County Detention Center. Police reported strong alcohol odor, slurred speech, a firearm found, and no concealed carry permit. He failed field sobriety tests and refused a breath test. Also Sunday, three men and a juvenile were detained after police chased ATVs and motorcycles near Eustis Park. One dirtbike was reportedly stolen from Orangeburg County. several drivers faced licenses and helmet violations, and one juvenile was charged for license and helmet offenses. Timothy Etheridge, 21, was detained on charges including contributing to the delinquency of a minor and providing false information. A 18-year-old woman with a bar bracelet was cleared after Etheridge’s false identity emerged. Etheridge also had two bench warrants for reckless driving and marijuana possession.

Aiken Police Reports Include Vandalism Theft and Drugs
A Durham man reported a windshield damaged by a thrown beer bottle on Richland Avenue. An Aiken man was being held on Brown Sign and marijuana found in the vehicle. Two students were detained for simple marijuana possession after a downed cigar contained green plant material. An Ellenton man reported a missing checkbook and two fraudulent checks. A Warrenville woman was detained for shoplifting at Whiskey Road. Gunshots were reported on Plunkett Avenue but not substantiated. A burglar alarm at Second Baptist Church led to an unsecured door but no disturbance. Aiken man said gunfire damaged his pickup after an argument over a woman, with two bullet holes found. A Roundtree Drive burglary and Pine Log Road vehicle break-in were reported.
