Scout earns Gold Award for Equine Rescue project
Victoria Eakins of Gloverville received the Gold Award from the Girl Scouts of America for a project at Equine Rescue of Aiken. The 19 year old Winthrop University student completed construction of catch pens between June 2008 and June 15 2009 while balancing high school senior duties and dance training.

Aiken center grads gain tools to pursue employment
George Jenkins and nine others completed the first class of the Aiken One-Stop Workforce Center WIA program. They earned certificates after four weeks of two hour workshops on networking resume interview and computer skills. Jenkins aims for an associate degree at Aiken Technical College and received the Trailblazer Award for motivating peers.

Aiken Relay For Life Raises Funds At 2010 Event
The 2010 Aiken Relay For Life at Aiken High School track runs 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. with about 75 teams and 800 participants aiming to reach a $200000 goal. Survivors and caregivers laps open the event and luminarias honor participants, while teams host booths and activities to fundraise.

Aiken County Parks Recreation and Tourism announces Outpost camps running June to August at multiple locations including Aiken State Park Monetta Community Center Harrison Caver Park New Ellenton Civic Center J D Lever Elementary and more.
