National award honors SRNL chemical collaboration
A decade long collaboration led by Savannah River National Laboratory and partners including Oak Ridge, Argonne, Pacific Northwest, Idaho National Labs and others earned the Council for Chemical Research 2011 Collaboration Research Award. The team developed salt waste processing, started Actinide Removal and Modular Caustic Side Solvent Extraction units in 2008, and decontaminated over 1.5 million gallons of high level waste at SRS, stabilizing cesium uranium and plutonium in glass canisters.
