USC archeologist spots pre Clovis tools at Savannah River site
University of South Carolina archaeologist Dr. Albert Goodyear reports finding hundreds of stone artifacts along the Savannah River that may be more than 12 000 years old. The discovery at Topper near Allendale challenges the view that North America’s first settlers were the Clovis culture and suggests people lived here earlier during the Ice Age.
