Bill To Create Aiken County Council Form Of Government
Aiken County would shift from the present county system to a council form of government under a proposed act. The measure establishes a chairman and six at large councilmen, sets terms and salaries, requires public hearings, and provides for a transition effective January 1 1971 pending a favorable referendum in 1970. The plan repeals existing county commission provisions and names transition rules for current offices and appointments.
