Edisto Singers enchant audience at Hopeland Gardens concert
The Edisto Singers drew 473 fans at Hopeland Gardens for a 1999 Summer Concert Series show. The 25 member Wagener based choir, directed by Harry Kirkland with accompanist Nona Atkinson, performed a varied program from Roaring Twenties tunes to gospel favorites. A special Sousa Band recital by South Aiken High School followed with Rev. Dr. Fred Andrea narrating. City Parks and Recreation sponsors the free event with seating by chairs or blankets and picnic dinners allowed.
