Aiken Budgets New Community Development and Tourism Division
The City of Aiken proposes a 2017 2018 budget adding a Community Development and Tourism Division uniting economic development marketing communications and tourism under the city manager. The draft allocates 528980 to the agency with 284480 for salaries and wages. The plan keeps the 62 mill tax rate while proposing a 15 percent fire service fee rise for non residents and water base rate increases from 10 to 11 50 monthly with a 30 cent per thousand value charge up to 41 monthly. Council will hold a first reading May 17 at the Municipal Building and then meet in executive session to discuss the Aiken Mall and a property transaction.
