California tobacco tax bid nears ballot approval
A funded coalition led by Tom Steyer plans a measure to raise California cigarette tax by 2 per pack to 2.87, funding Medi Cal and anti smoking campaigns. If verified, the measure would appear on the November ballot with other proposals including plastic bag bans and condom use in adult films.
