36 Polling Sites Face Split Vote in Aiken County

Shuttle Endeavour Lands at Edwards After Satellite Rescue

Endeavour touched down at Edwards Air Force Base in the Mojave Desert at 1 57 p m PDT after a mission that saw three astronauts recover a massive satellite by hand. Commander Daniel Brandenstein deployed a red white and blue drag chute as about 125000 spectators watched the return. NASA called it a spectacular historic landing at the $2 billion shuttle base with Mission Control praising the crew.
