Congress OKs SRS funds to ease sequestration impact
Congress approved 79 million dollars for the Savannah River Site to blunt sequestration cuts and avert furloughs. Representative Joe Wilson praised action by House and Senate committees and the Office of Management and Budget, calling the move a victory for Aiken and Barnwell counties and the nation. The funds may be reallocated from their original purpose to sustain essential operations at the nuclear facility.
