Clerk Divides Mesne Conveyance Office In House Action
Clerk of Court Cleo Scott cheered a bill breaking the Clerk of Court and Registrar of Mesne Conveyance into separate offices, moving from Senate approval toward final passage in the House. The measure, backed by Sens. Laughlin, Martin and McMillan, forces space for a second office in a large county like Aiken. Scott urged two more staff and equipment, with the registrar to be led by her and Mrs. Roe to supervise criminal records after gubernatorial appointments.
