Clearwater man sought in robberies

A Clearwater man linked to an armed robbery at a Waffle House early Thursday and a Huddle House the following morning has been identified and is being sought by local law enforcement, officials said.
Jordan Walter Howard, 21, of 962 Duncan Road, is wanted on . two counts of armed robbery.
He should be considered armed and dangerous, said Capt. Troy Elwell, a spokesperson for the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.
On Thursday, a man matching Howard's description entered the Clearwater Waffle House, ordered,
ate a meal and, before paying his hill, demanded money from the register. Deputies said he threatened that he had a weapon but * never presented a gun. He received money and ran from the area.
On Friday, a man matching the same description entered the Huddle House on Richland Avenue in Aiken about 2:25 a.m.
and demanded money.
The suspect acted as if he had a weapon hidden under his shirt, said Lh David Tumo, an Aiken Public Safety spokesperson.
The man received an undisclosed amount of money and left on a bicycle.

Mother, son die in fire

Pain and grief were written all over the face of Jesse Tracey Jr., whose world was turned upside down early Friday morning when a fire at a Hampton Avenue home claimed the life of the mother of his children and his 7-year-old son.
Joy Thomas, 35, and Jesse Tracey HI, 7, died from smoke inhalation, said Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton. They had minor to moderate bums.
A younger boy, 5-year-old Joey Tracey, was also at the residence at 910 Hampton Ave. with his mother and older brother when the fire ignited.
He was transported to the Joseph M. Still Bum Centers in Augusta where he was hospitalized.
Family members said Joey is expected to fully recover from his bums.
Joy Thomas’ younger sister, Yolanda Dortch, described the fire as an “unbelievable” tragedy.

Brown said she was inside her home, only yards away from Thomas’ residence, when she heard loud popping.
She initially thought cats were on her porch but then realized something was wrong.
“I saw the AC blazing,” she said pointing to a Farge unit on the east side of the charred home. “I started
screaming and called 911.” Only a few yards away, Thomas’ mother and sister and other family members heard the commotion and ran over to help.
“Mom went inside,” said Dortch. “She tried to pull her oui, bul she couldn’t.”
Other neighbors reportedly tried to help until firefighters arrived minutes later.

Narcotics investigators completed a monthlong investigation and found a number of suspects involved in the illegal manufacturing of methamphetamine and distribution of controlled substances, said officials
Investigators conducted searches at four residences in the Beech Island and Warrens ilk areas, seizing a Browning 7.65 nun semi-automatic pistol, seven marijuana plants, a quantity of marijuana and numerous items used in the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine, said Aiken County Sheriffs Office spokesperson Capt. Troy Elwell.
As a result of the investigation, a number of suspects were arrested.

Lovelace, 37, of 59 Colt Road in Warrenville, is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, unlawful disposal of methamphetamine waste and altered or adulterated ephedrine/ pseudoephedrine pills.
Robert Lee Williams 39, of 516 Swamp Road in Beech Island, is charged w uh manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Just when Nicky's grandparents, who have custody
of the blonde-haired, gregarious little boy, thought the worst was over and were getting used to the routine medication regimen, his grandmother, Tina Wright, received a call one day after Nicky had gone in for his usual lab tests.
On Jan. 4, 2010, the doctors told Wright that Nicky had developed lympho-maand intestinal cancer as a result of the transplants.
