The American Bankers Association outlines new credit rules for divorced and widowed women. Alimony child support and maintenance now count toward creditworthiness under federal law. Women may use ex husband credit history and must face possible collateral or new applications if finances are strained. Cosigning and signed employer letters can improve access to credit.
