The Midlands Fatherhood Coalition opens an Aiken County site in June at 1474B Columbia Highway N to help deadbeat parents through its Jobs Not Jail program. Since 2006 in Richland and Lexington counties it aided 475 fathers, enabling them to pay $699,530 in child support instead of facing incarceration.
The Fatherhood Coalition offers one on one plans for participants with goals and timelines, requires child support payments, and holds sessions to improve job skills. Noncustodial fathers mainly serve, but women and voluntary participants are welcome as DSS and local officials fund and support the program.
Kelly Sigler Patterson of Looking Glass Farm Wagener adopted Parelli methods after a dust devil event injured her horse George and caused loading fears.
