Groups seek continued county funding through sales tax program
The Cumbee Center and other groups will have one more chance to request funds from Aiken County's one cent sales tax if the referendum passes in November. The Sales Tax Commission will hear only pre submitted requests from groups including the Cumbee Center the Aiken Family the Galaxi Youth Center and the Center for African American History Art and Culture. The commission will meet weekly to draft an ordinance authorizing projects for the referendums and will decide on final funding before County Council approval.
