Mountain Heart to headline Aiken bluegrass festival

Mountain Heart will headline the opening reception of the Aiken Bluegrass Festival at the Newberry Street Festival Site. Doug and the Henrys perform at 7 p.m. with Mountain Heart at 8:30 p.m. Saturday events run noon to 11 p.m. Tickets range from 10 to 60 dollars. The festival features a large children’s area with a log cabin set and Appalachian themed activities.

Bomb threat forces Wal-Mart evacuation in Aiken

A bomb threat called to the Wal-Mart in Aiken led to a several hour evacuation and store search by police and Wackenhut dogs. No injuries were reported and the store reopened after the sweep as investigators pursue the suspect.

Body found in shed on Womrath Road in North Augusta

The 64 year old Donald C. Boyd was found dead inside a small storage shed on Womrath Road. Officials withheld details on wounds until autopsy. Boyd was reported missing by his wife and had been evicted, last seen the day he was reported missing. The body had likely been there 48 hours.
