Aiken City Council Votes to Borrow 2 Million for Storm Water Projects
The Aiken City Council approved a unanimous plan to borrow 2 million dollars from the general fund to finance storm water improvements in Hitchcock Woods Rollingwood Road and Wise Hollow. The loan, backed by the storm water utility fund, will be repaid over 10 years with a 1 percent above savings rate. If second reading passes 500000 from the general fund equipment replacement account would transfer on June 30. City Manager Steven T. Thompson cited bond-issue avoidance and cost savings. City to raise garbage rates by 1.40 a month
