Aiken County DSS unveils test site for custody reforms

Still In Business as Barnwell Landfill Won't Close Yet

Recycling Center Decision Delayed on Shiloh Road Site

The Aiken City Council delayed a decision on leasing about two acres on Shiloh Church Road for a county recycling center after Rev. Louie L. Anderson of Shiloh Baptist Church and resident Pierce Owens complained the site was unsuitable. County Engineer Joe Berry defended the plan as minimizing impact and not a trash dump, while residents urged relocation and questioned the site’s proximity to the church. Family Distraught After Rabid Horse Dies in Aiken County

A northeast Aiken County family faced exposure to their rabid three year old American saddle horse. Nine people were exposed, including two children, with adults starting a five shot series and children six shots. DHEC provided serum and the family opted to quarantine unvaccinated pets.
