Blackmon closes record-setting South Carolina track career
Angelina Blackmon, Northwestern High senior, clinched her seventh state track title by winning the 1600 meters with a 5:02.65, breaking Carrie Joyce’s 1999 mark. She also ran the second leg on Northwestern’s winning 1600 relay as she honors her late brother Thomas Blackmon Jr. In a later 3200, Spring Valley’s Kate Niehaus edged her, while Blackmon and teammates faced mixed results at the state meet.
