Congress Should Permanently Normalize Trade With China
In an election year the pending vote on permanent normal trade relations with China risks political distortion. The piece argues new access for U.S. firms and workers, potential export gains of about 10 billion dollars over ten years, and a broader rise in U.S. output, while noting past export gaps and the need to align with WTO rules. It asserts market access, reduces misalignment, and calls for a pragmatic, economics-based approach to normalization.
