Council votes to sell land for daycare at Sage Mill
Aiken County Council revisits selling about 2 acres at Sage Mill Industrial Park for a Br idgestone Firestone daycare facility to serve 150 children. The plan drew opposition from principal McKenz ie who warned of safety concerns in an industrial area. Votes to reconsider came from Osbon Singer Young and Rawls. Barton abstained and McKenzie opposed further talks. The proposal, backed by United Way and Bridgestone Firestone, includes a 24/7 operation and a $100,000 company investment. a second reading is set for May 20.
