Honda to open ATV plant in Timmonsville South Carolina

Honda locates 175000 square foot ATV facility on a 500 acre site between I 95 and US 76 nine miles southwest of Florence. The plant will start Fall 1998 with 100000 units and 300 workers expanding to 600. 30 million initial investment and 500000 donation to local schools. Governors and local officials tout spinoff benefits while training and incentives are negotiated. Two models FourTrax 300 and 400 will be built in Florence County with rest moving from Marysville Ohio.

Senate rules threaten coattail bills in budget plan

Lawmakers fear new two thirds approval rule for permanent changes in law attached to the spending plan could kill House proposals such as increasing high school graduation credits from 20 to 24. The budget would also cut scholarships to 250, raise video poker machine fees, fund six judges, and tighten taxes and penalties while Beasley’s 1994 pledge resurfaces in the Senate Finance Committee.
