Three Delta rocket launches are postponed as NASA probes an electrical short that shut down the main engine after a failed unmanned spacecraft. Investigators cite unknown power surge origins and caution sabotage is unlikely.
There may be widely scattered showers tonight with no significant rainfall. Overnight low temperatures in the 60s and winds up to 10 mph. Sunday will be sunny with highs in the mid 80s and winds to 15 mph. See Page 3A for details.

World leaders wrapped three day summit with a call for new trade talks and a major revision in monetary policy. The final communique left unresolved European agricultural subsidies while noting oil price declines and stressing long term market stability. A subway firecracker attack delayed Tokyo transit, and Abu Abbas threatened attacks on America prompting a tough anti-terrorist statement.
President Reagan departs Tokyo after a seven nation economic summit with gains on oil prices inflation and interest rates improving global climate. Treasury Secretary Baker calls summit smooth while Libya condemnation is the notable non economic achievement and no agreement on oil boycott or air strike support. Reagan to hold a live US broadcast news conference before return.
Pravda reports a non nuclear explosion destroyed the building housing the reactor at Chernobyl and a fire rose nearly 100 feet high. Water and chemicals could not extinguish the blaze as radiation spread over Europe and possibly into North America.
New England posted the fastest income growth in 1985 driven by a high tech boom, with the region up 6.6 percent to an average per capita of 15 387. Alaska topped states at 17 756 while Mississippi remained lowest at 9035. Nationwide income rose 5.3 percent to 13 451.
