Online auto buying lags despite rising web interest
A Consumer Reports study shows only about a third of online vehicle shoppers complete a purchase, with many still preferring face to face negotiations or fearing poor pricing. The survey of 1,000 people finds 64 percent willing to use the Internet for purchases or referrals, up from 41 percent last year, as automakers and sites test virtual showrooms and PDAs display car images.
