The Aiken County School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday to establish a selection committee, set timelines for the search, and organize public input for appointing a new district superintendent before Beth Everitt retires. Applications were due April 30, with finalists and a decision hoped for by early June.

Aiken hosted Dinner with Friends en Blanc at the Aiken Railroad Depot, a pop up white night benefiting the Child Advocacy Center of Aiken County and the Community Medical Clinic. About 475 attendees wore white and arrived after text alerts, sharing tenderloin, smoked salmon, white asparagus, and coconut cake while festive décor filled tables. Betty Ryberg organized the event with co workers and said next year should be bigger, as supporters praised the community turnout and energy.
Two local agencies will benefit from Sunday's Dinner with Friends en Blanc in Aiken County. The Community Medical Clinic of Aiken County at 244 Greenville St backs uninsured residents with care while the Child Advocacy Center at 4231 Trolley Line Rd supports abused children through investigation prevention and treatment services. The clinic runs on volunteers and notes each donated dollar yields 16.02 in services with 574 patients aided last year.
