Local hospice volunteer Randy Hicks named Red Cross hero
Randy Hicks, a senior design specialist at Savannah River Remediation, was named a hero by the American Red Cross at the Heroes Breakfast in Aiken on March 28. For 20 years he has volunteered in home healthcare, most recently with Regency Hospice of Aiken, installing smoke detectors and assistive devices, visiting patients, and offering respite for families. Hicks, honored three times as Regency Hospice Volunteer of the Year, says the time with patients and families deepens his own life and strengthens his marriage.
