Sign Proclaims California Illegal Immigrant State Billboard
Activists plan a 10 by 30 foot billboard at the California Arizona line on Interstate 10 calling California the illegal immigrant state. Sponsored by the California Coalition for Immigration Reform led by Barbara Coe the sign urges stopping illegal immigration and invites calls to a toll free number. Critics say the message will deepen divisions while noting Proposition 187 was struck down by federal courts. The sign goes up Tuesday near a major immigration checkpoint.
