Carter proposes alternate farm income boost plan

The Carter administration announced a field-Implemented program to raise farm incomes without boosting consumer prices. It targets corn, feed grain, cotton and soybeans with land-out payments and higher support prices, bypassing Congress and aiming to limit price hikes to 6-8 percent, with cotton shirts potentially costing about 10 cents more.

County Council Dismissed From Suit By School Board

The Aiken County Council and three county officials were dismissed from a civil suit filed by the Aiken County School Board over who may levy school taxes. Judge Rodney A.
