Man arrested in Latta shooting death
Latta police charged 38 year old Willie Morrison with murder in the shooting death of 56 year old Jesse Barr. Barr identified the suspect before he died, and Morrison was found with a gunshot wound to the hand after fleeing to Florence. A gun and shell casings were recovered.

Guinea official views exhibit on S C slave landing spot
Ahmed Cisse, Guinea’s minister of culture and heritage, toured Fort Moultrie on Sullivan’s Island with officials to learn how to preserve Guinea slave trade sites. He described the exhibit’s impact and linked Guinea's future digs to Rio Pongo and historic ties to South Carolina. Ken Kelly of USC arranged the visit and plans another dig in January.
