Filing closes Tuesday at noon for Aiken County Council seats and state House races. Most incumbents filed. a few newcomers include Republican Bill Taylor for House District 86 and Don Baldwin and Bill Hixon for House District 83. Scouts race to win Pinewood Derby in Yamasee District
On March 13 the Aiken Mall hosted the Yamasee District Pinewood Derby with 113 Cub Scouts from Aiken Barnwell and Edgefield counties. Top finishers in each age group qualified to the Georgia Carolina Council event March 20 in Evans Georgia. Jeff Klein led Pack 121 with helpers known as the Pine-Heads and trophies were awarded to winners. Savannah River Nuclear Solutions supported scouting with derby kits and a district executive with contact information for more details.
