Officials identify body in Savannah River case
Barnwell County Coroner Lloyd Ward said the body found Tuesday in the Savannah River is Joshua Michael Bowers of Dorchester County. He was 26 and identified by fingerprints. last seen February 24 at the 1ath Street Bridge in Augusta. Shoes and personal items were found on the bridge. Richmond County investigators reported a similar name, Joshua Michael Barnes, as a possible jumper from the same bridge, but officials have not confirmed a link. The coroner noted the inquiry remains listed as suspicious with no witnesses to a jump. Further clarification was not available.
