Aiken Harness Races Draw Record Crowd on Banks Mill Road

Perfect weather lit up Banks Mill Road for the 27th running of the Aiken Harness Races with 5 206 fans. Track owners Janis and Bruce McGhee and the University of South Carolina Aiken Pacer Club shared in the celebration as Bobby Tuba's New Orleans Dixieland Band provided music. Bandleader Bobby Schnalhs said the first appearance was a ball and he hoped for a return visit while local students cheered from the rails for horses sponsored on their behalf.

Local students across Aiken County took the SAT on a Saturday test day with varied prep views. South Aiken High posted 1034 average, overall CSRA averages hovered around 979 versus statewide 953 and national 1016, while educators push early, sustained study and formal workshops to boost results.
