Carolyn Herron Ruby Seay will have a 4 p.m. service at Bethcar Baptist Church in Wagoner and Christopher Thurmond at 1 a.m. at Young Macedonia Baptist Church in North Augusta.
Micah Creech Mike Jenkins aged 79 of Aiken died March 27 2007. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Aiken Memorial Gardens with Reverend Dr. Fred Andrea III officiating. He was a Clemson graduate WWII Navy veteran IPTAY member and avid golfer and hunter.
A collision on state Highway 9 near Richburg claims the lives of Hannah Quinton 9 of Fort Lawn and Nicholas Cherry 7 of Richburg. Alice Quinton 39 mother of the children survives in fair condition with Timothy Quinton 7 in critical condition. Taylor Cherry the siblings preschool sister is in serious condition. The logging truck driver George Rogers 51 of Chester was released from the hospital. Highway 9 remained closed as investigators probed the right of way and light at the intersection.
A state audit released Tuesday argues the Second Injury Fund in South Carolina’s workers compensation system does not lower insurance costs for employers. The Legislative Audit Council says the fund raises costs for firms hiring disabled workers or those with prior injuries, prompting calls to eliminate it as legislators push system reform.
