North Augusta Lands Nominated as Opportunity Zones
Two tracts in North Augusta were nominated by Governor Henry McMaster for the federal Opportunity Zone program aimed at spurring long term private investment in low income areas. one tract downtown bounds East Martintown Road Highway 78 Savannah River and Fairfield Avenue. The larger tract spans from North Augusta to Wood Valley. Local officials say the designation could attract capital for startup projects and cyber investments while creating jobs. Treasury review for the nominations is expected to take about 30 days.
