Plan would fund athletic upgrades with bond premium
Aiken County Public School District could use bond premium from its $17.5 million Five Year Facility Improvement Plan to finance roughly $4 million in high school athletic facility upgrades. Proposals include artificial turf at North Augusta and Aiken High, track and lighting at Silver Bluff, and restrooms at South Aiken and Midland Valley. The plan, proposed by Keith Liner and discussed with the athletic facilities subcommittee, aims to avoid borrowing from the reserve fund by timing projects and using available bond premium funding. If borrowing occurs, costs would be a small loss of interest, estimated under $25,000. The athletic facilities needs subcommittee will reconvene, with the full board possible to act Tuesday.
