Suicide tied to burning Graniteville home in 870 Chalk Bed Rd death

Firefighters found a man dead in the front yard of a burning Graniteville home at 870 Chalk Bed Road. Timothy Moseley, 46, of Chalk Bed Road, reportedly set the house on fire and then killed himself in the yard ahead of a probate hearing. Neighbors had called in a domestic dispute a week earlier. The home was consumed, and no others were harmed.

Aiken district cuts force reassignments for 2003 2004

Aiken County School District will reassign all teaching specialists as positions are eliminated amid deep state funding cuts. The board of education met in a closed session Tuesday night and announced personnel changes for Chris Guerrieri Warren Whitson Dr Elizabeth Purvis Brenda Smith Delorise Childs Bonnie Culberson. Guerrieri will become principal at Gloverville Elementary. Budget details follow on page 5A.

Celebrities Line Up for Harness Race in Aiken

Celebrities join a charity harness race at McGhee's Mile in Aiken with USC Aiken athletes driving. Drivers include Chuck Martin, Charlie Weiss, and Dr Thomas Hallman. Horses are USC Aiken student athletes from basketball and golf. Event sponsored by USC Aiken, the Pacer Club, and the City of Aiken. gates open 10 am, post time 1 pm. tickets $8 adults $5 children in advance, $10/$6 at gate.
