Aiken County seeks Prime Sponsor status for CETA program

Aiken County will apply to become a Prime Sponsor for the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act program. The move was approved at a special Council meeting to decide whether to let the state continue administering the county program or switch to direct federal administration. If direct federal control occurs, the county would regain 6 percent of CETA funding currently paid as state administrative costs. The finance committee later met in executive session and the council will remain in the state's CETA system while arrangements remain satisfactory.
