A cache of crack cocaine cocaine marijuana and weapons was seized in Aiken County during a five month narcotics operation. Four men George Glover Steven Durbin John Wiley Williams and Damien Gleaton were charged with various drug and weapon offenses. Warrants were executed at 1032 Reynolds Pond Road and 86 Joanne Drive with help from multiple agencies.
Aiken County Development Committee recommended not opening the County Recreation Center pool this summer due to estimated upgrades and operation costs. DHEC found needed repairs after a 2009 inspection, with a possible $100,000 expenditure for upgrades. The Family offered $50,000 to help operate, but officials declined. The idea of replacing the pool with splash pads was considered, while funds proposed for a new pool were lowered to $500,000 for two splash pads.
