Richard Lord Jr. died at his Aiken home on March 24 2007 after a long life that began in Philadelphia. He served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific, notably at Guadalcanal, and later worked in publishing and hospital settings before retiring to Stuart and Catawba Island. He is survived by his wife Philippa and a large family including two daughters, four stepchildren, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services are private with visitation at home March 29 and donations to Regency Hospice. Shellhouse Funeral Home in Aiken handles arrangements.
