Extradition Sought in Aiken County Marijuana Flight Case

Aiken County will seek extradition of Patrick E. Guysinger of Conway Michigan on conspiracy to transport illegal drugs into Aiken County after a Cessna 180 carrying eight bales of marijuana landed in a soybean field north of the county. Authorities issued an APB for the pilot who is believed to have left the area. The plane was moved to the Aiken Airport and authorities plan to keep it for law enforcement use.

Essex County Jail guards freed after 13 hour inmate takeover

Five Essex County Jail guards released after more than 13 hours as inmates seized two floors of the Newark facility and menaced hostages with a drop from a 10th floor window. One guard was carried out on a stretcher. a sixth hostage was later released. Authorities said another guard was dangled from a window during the incident involving about 60 inmates.

County School Zones Created In Aiken County

Aiken County Board of Education approves district wide high school attendance zones with seven zone coordinators and area superintendents moving to the central Education Center.
