New Ellenton police probe a Tuesday night shooting on Richmond Circle where three suspects reportedly exchanged fire. A male bystander was struck in the lower back and taken to a hospital with non life threatening injuries as investigators question possible suspects.
Aiken parents George Laiacona IV and Alexandra Laiacona were arrested in March on multiple counts of unlawful neglect of a child and cruelty to children after ongoing abuse reports. Four children were placed into alternative care. bail posted for both parents. Aiken County deputies also arrested a male suspect after a Hancock Road domestic shooting incident with no injuries. A teen, Christopher Snodgrass, faces third degree assault charges at Rutland Drive High School after allegedly attacking a peer during lunch.
Nationally acclaimed poet Julie Funderburk will give a public reading from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Aiken Center for the Arts on Laurens Street. The event, sponsored by the Guild of Poetic Intent at USC Aiken, is free and open to the public.

Witnesses described an unknown man assaulting a Windsor man on Crawford Avenue. A 78-year-old Trenton woman reported her vehicle stolen from Timberland Road apartments. A Fabian Drive business employee said an unknown male stole a $349 cooler. A 32-year-old Aiken woman said a 44-year-old man stood at her Carriage Drive door in underwear. A 72-year-old Aiken woman reported her purse stolen from her car on Richland Avenue. A 23-year-old Aiken man reported a vehicle break-in on Churchill Circle. An officer took a 21-year-old Graniteville man to hospital after seen naked on Rutland Drive. A 21-year-old Greensboro man said a vehicle was broken into on Colony Parkway.
