Harness Races Saturday at McGhees Mile

The Aiken Harness Races return Saturday with eight races including a first time purse for each race. Tim Hall notes record crowds and new features such as a starting gate and infield sponsor tent. Waste shipments from Los Alamos to WIPP could begin this fall

US District Judge John Gar ret Penn ruled that Savannah River Site may send TA.65-43 waste from Los Alamos National Laboratory to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in New Mexico. The waste would undergo EPA and WIPP criteria checks before shipments start, with a possible start as early as this fall.

Panel pushes 10 percent tax on video gambling

A Senate Finance Committee plan would tax the $2 billion video gambling industry by allocating 90 cents of every dollar to gamblers and 10 cents to the state. The measure, backed by Sen. Sociologist faults Cumbee Center in killing case

Dr. Marti Loring testified in a 3.25 million damage suit that the Cumbee Center failed to prevent the death of Sebrenia Neal nine days after she fled there with her three children.
