Bottling Firm A&L Foods to Relocate to Aiken County

A & L Foods of Augusta plans a $4 million relocation to the old George building on U S 78 in Aiken County within 90 days. The move will create about 70 to 80 jobs with a largely semi skilled workforce as the firm expands its juice and syrup bottling for Kroger and others. Local officials and Sen Thomas L Moore Aiken Mayor Fred Cavanaugh and other leaders attended the 10 am news conference.

Sulkies and Harness Races Highlight Aiken Triple Crown

Arkenites will view sulkies at the Aiken Mile Track during the final event of the annual Triple Crown the Aiken Harness Races. Last year about 2339 spectators attended the race, a crowd that outpaced the Carolina Cup Steeplechase in Camden and the Augusta Invitational Rowing Regatta in Augusta.

Aiken Harness Races Set At Aiken Mile Track

The Aiken Harness Races will be held at the Aiken Mile Track on Banks Mill Road this Saturday March 27 with gates at 10 a.m. and post time at 1 p.m. Tickets cost five dollars for adults two dollars for children under twelve and free for under six. Parking is two dollars general while first row railside parking is fifty dollars and includes four tickets and second row parking is thirty five dollars with four tickets.
