The Aiken Hunt Meet at Clark Field on Powderhouse Road opens gates at 10 a.m. with post time 1:30 p.m. Tickets range from general admission to railside options, with a gala at 7:30 p.m. Friday, priced at 75 per couple. The Aiken Sulky Races on March 30 at Banks Mill Road offer railside and group packages to benefit Shrine projects.
Weather prompts the United States Park Police Horse Mounted Unit to reschedule its public demonstration at the H O Weeks Activities Center for tomorrow at 10 30 am. The unit will also perform tomorrow at Clark Field during the Aiken Hunt Meet.

Blood centers nationwide enter a phase-in of an antibody test for HTLV3 linked to AIDS. Donors during this period are not notified if the antibody is found. the blood is discarded if positive. Columbia SC Regional Red Cross officials note the test is not diagnostic and will join national testing proficiency efforts.
Representative Tom Huff introduces legislation to let a portion of a school district secede after a petition by a majority of registered voters in the attendance area. The bill requires a 30 day school board action to form a new district and then GA to define governing powers before operation. The measure aims to give districts a two step process to split rather than consolidate.
