Hannibal slaying case sparks debate over illegal immigration

Manuel Cazares, 32, an undocumented immigrant from Michoacan, is charged with two counts of second degree murder and armed criminal action in the Feb. 28 killings of Amanda Thomas and Carl Epley in Hannibal Missouri. Police say he had a prior record, and the case has spurred community anger and questions about immigration status and enforcement.

Death by exercise wife gets four years

Chris Mason, a transgender woman, was sentenced to four years in Geauga County for reckless homicide in the June death of 73-year-old James Mason. A surveillance video showed Mason forcing her frail husband to exercise in the pool. she had pleaded guilty and earlier faced up to five years.
