A panel of three federal judges on Wednesday unveiled their plan for election district lines affecting 124 representatives 46 senators and six U.S. House members. The unanimous redistricting decision ends months of speculation and marks a final act in the Legislature's summer long redistricting fight.
Three days before President Bush planned visit a car bomb exploded outside the U S Embassy in Lima Peru killing nine and wounding dozens amid broad condemnation. State Department later said no Americans were killed in the blast.

A routine walk along Snipes Pond shoreline led to a grim discovery. The body of Floyd Arthur McCall, 59, was found near the pond bank after divers located a truck in water about 15 to 20 feet deep. Autopsy performed. no foul play suspected.

The board will elect a new chair-elect for next year while continuing the search for President June Murff’s replacement. Murff and other leaders say Satcher’s departure will be a loss but the orderly transition will proceed.
US District Court Judge Cameron M Currie will hold an emergency hearing today on Danny O Schaffer’s bid to extend the window for Westinghouse Savannah River Co early retirement incentives. Schaffer asks to preserve the status quo at least 15 days after a final merits judgment. The company set a March 1 21 signup window for the plan.
Weather forecasts call for pleasant conditions for the 36th Aiken Steeplechase at Ford Conger Field in Aiken. Georgiana Conger, an Aiken Steeplechase Association board member, notes cooler weather should benefit the horses and backs the meteorologists' outlook. The race will be held Saturday at the Ford Conger Field area near Audubon Drive and Powderhouse Road.
