Court re opens lawsuit in Cumbee Center case

Court of Appeals reinstates a multi million dollar lawsuit against the Cumbee Center, ordering retrial for the 1997 civil suit in Aiken. The ruling reverses a directed verdict that dismissed the case brought by Irene Russaw, mother of Sebrenia Russaw Neal’s children, who was killed April 19 1995.

Sunny Skies Ahead for Aiken Steeplechase Event

Sunny skies and near seventy degree temperatures set the scene for the 33rd Aiken Steeplechase at Ford Conger Field. Gates open 9:30 a.m. with post time 1 p.m. for six races about every 30 minutes, drawing 30,000 spectators as the National Steeplechase Association season opener. General admission $10 at the gate. parking $5 at the polo field or along Powderhouse Road. All Ford Conger Field parking is reserved, with additional attractions and a community band performance.

Aiken Steeplechase and Regatta Events Announced

Aiken Steeplechase at Ford Conger Field opens gates at 9 30 a.m. with six races and ten dollar general admission. Free for under six. Parking at Powderhouse Field five dollars. Village shops and a carriage parade fundraise for Helping Hands and Aiken SPCA. Langely Pond hosts Augusta Aiken County Spring Regatta with up to 1000 rowers from about 20 states. Parking at Gloverville Park with a shuttle every 15 minutes to Pleasure Island in Gloverville. Travel routes provided from Aiken via S C 118 to S C 421 to Pleasure Island Road.
