South Carolina jobless rate steady at 6.6 percent in January
State officials reported SC unemployment held at 6.6 percent in January, unchanged from December. Evans gets 30 years in murder-for-hire case in Conway
Nehemiah James Evans, 30, of Nichols, was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to two murder counts in a murder-for-hire scheme. The August 2012 killings of Amos Hatfield and his son Thomas Hatfield occurred in Loris, with Amos’s wife Sandy Lee Locklear and co-defendant Odom Bryant already given life terms. Prosecutors said Locklear arranged the hit for $50,000 from a $1 million life insurance policy.

South Carolina plant delivers first 787-9 Dreamliner
The Boeing South Carolina facility delivered its first 787-9 Dreamliner to United Airlines after completing assembly in January. Test flights occurred last month. The plane is 20 feet longer than the standard 787 and marks the 250th Dreamliner delivered by the company.
