Aiken Hounds Celebrate 100th Anniversary Season
Submissions invited for an anniversary book as the Aiken Hounds mark a century of fox hunting. Established in 1914, the group hunts weekly in Hitchcock Woods October through March. The centennial opening meet Blessing of the Hounds and Stirrup Cup will be held this fall at Memorial Gate, aligning with the 98th Aiken Horse Show in the Woods.

Fresh Market opens on Whiskey Road in Aiken
The Fresh Market debuts at 1400 Whiskey Road in the South Park Shopping Center with nine am opening on Wednesday. The 19 700 square foot store offers 400 produce items and a bakery with 30 breads and 14 pies. First 1000 customers receive coffee samples and 2000 get reusable bags. Ray and Beverly Berry launched the chain in 1982 in Greensboro.

The 47th Spring Steeplechase at Ford Conger Field on Saturday opened gates at 9 30 a m and starts the first of six races at 1 p m with an expected 30 000 in attendance. The event, part of the National Steeplechase Association schedule, features five jump races and one flat race.
