Dispatch procedures under Fire Chief scrutiny at Aiken Council
Wagener Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mark Redd pressed the County Council committee on dispatch timing and standardized procedures claiming delays up to five to eight minutes. Sheriff Michael Hunt defended the 911 system while pledging to meet fire departments halfway and urged copying dispatch operating procedures to all departments. The council did not resolve the issue but acknowledged concerns and approved AP zoning for 601 acres on New Bridge and Wheat roads.
